We are delighted to share that Chris has been awarded a prestigious Wellcome Career Development Award to support the next stage of the Hill Lab's research programme at the University of York.
The award will provide £2.5 million over the next eight years to investigate how RNA viruses manipulate the host translation machinery. Our research will focus on understanding how structured viral RNA elements hijack ribosomes and regulate gene expression, with the aim of uncovering fundamental mechanisms that could ultimately inform the development of new antiviral strategies.
The award represents an exciting milestone for the lab and will enable us to expand our multidisciplinary approach, combining structural biology, biochemistry, biophysics and single-molecule imaging to answer longstanding questions about viral gene expression. It will also support the recruitment and development of new researchers, helping to grow the Hill Lab over the coming years.
We are hugely excited for what lies ahead and are extremely grateful to Wellcome for making this research possible. You can read the full University of York announcement on the news page. University of York news article
